Get rid of the weapon switch from DW7 and DW8. More details and events from the original novel would be great, especially now that some may work even better in this open world style (Cao Cao and Chen Gong on the run, Guan Yu and the Five Passes, Lu Xun in the Maze, Guan Xing meets Pan Zhang, etc).Ī return of the duels as presented in DW6 would be great, and here the deadlock mechanic from DW1 I mentioned earlier would really shine. And again, I worry because a well told story and open world game design often don't mesh very well. I'd love to see the story presented even better than it was in DW7 and DW8, which I thought both did very good jobs. It is far to easy for your character to dominate the whole map. Your allies used to be able to actually do something in the other games, now they just get slowly pushed back unless they need to move forward to make a event occur in the battles, which feel far more scripted than the earlier games. We should feel like an important warrior on the battlefield, not the only warrior on the battlefield, which I feel like is what has occurred in DW7 and DW8. The game moves far too quickly now, and many attacks feel like they have too little heft and power behind them. ![]() Slow down the pace of combat back to the speed of DW3 and DW4. #KESSEN II THE ARCHLICH SERIES#There are a few things from each of the Dynasty Warriors games previous in the series that I hope Koei takes inspiration from for this new iteration.īring back the deadlock clashing mechanic from DW1, it's button mashy, but fun, and flashy. If it is done similarly to Sanada Maru, as some have suggested, that could be alright, but I think that is about as far as you can push the Warriors formula. I don't see the open world framework being a great fit for the story of Romance of the Three Kingdoms, or the game play of Dynasty Warriors. Excited for a new entry in the series, but wary as well. Massive Koei and Warriors fan from way back. ![]()
